RCCH is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to assist the Maria Lanakila Parish with obtaining a building permit for the reroofing of the Maria Lanakila Church.

Project Background:

A portion of the Maria Lanakila church roof blew off during the heavy  winds on the day of the Maui Wildfires.  

Given the church's location within both the Lahaina National Historic Landmark District and the Lahaina Historic District #1, this project requires compliance with applicable historic preservation requirements.  This includes obtaining a building permit from  the Maui County Department of Planning and Permitting which may require reviews / approvals from the State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD) and the Maui County Historic Resources Commission (HRC).

The existing roof is asphalt shingles.  RCCH would like to apply for permit for standing seam copper roof.

Scope of Work

Prepare all building plan set and all documents to obtain building permit and all other required approvals and to obtain construction proposals.

Submit building permit plans for building permit and all other required approvals.    

The consultant will be the primary point of contact with all relevant agencies, including: the Maui County Department of Planning and Permitting, Maui Historic Resource Commission, (HRC) and State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD), managing all communications, document submissions, and scheduling of meetings or inspections.  However, the Roman Catholic Church of Hawaii (RCCH) representative will be included in all communication including but not limited to invited to all meetings, copied on all submissions and e-mails, informed of any and all other communication.     

The consultant will inform RCCH any agency comments or requests and work with RCCH to make any necessary adjustments to ensure compliance and facilitate timely permit approval.

Provide a complete bid-ready plans and specifications for the reroofing project that RCCH can use to obtain contractor proposals.
